After passing the House last week, a bloated state budget loaded up with 6.15% more spending than last year slid through the Senate on greased tracks.
The vote on passage was 17-4. Sen. Colin Bonini voted against the budget for the 17th straight year. He was joined by Sen. Joe Booth and Sen. Dave Lawson. The fourth no vote came from Democratic Sen. Michael Katz, who unsuccessfully challenged for Senate President earlier this year.
For Katz, it was a gutsy vote that will earn him no new friends in the Democratic caucus room.
